After Bahrain GP everyone was saying that it will be very tough for Jensen Button to retain his championship but in Qantas he showed why he is still a favorite to win the championship by completing a very clean race and ending it with good 12sec margin ahead of the second position Robert Kubica, Felipe Massa completing the podium places by finishing third.

But it was Fernando Alonso who stole the complete attention by first having to go through a very bad accident in the very first lap of the race, which took Micheal Schumacher along with him for whom this was another not so good race keeping in mind his past reputation, and Alonso began the fight back and managed to end the race with healthy 4th place finish.

But at the end of the qualifying session it was once again Sabastian vettel who managed to grab the 2nd pole position in a row and 7th of his career with a hope that his car might last for the complete race this time as he had to settle for the 4th position in the last race because of the exhaust problem in his car. As far as the Ferrari is concerned they had to settle for the 3rd position in the qualifying as Fernando Alonso qualified at the 3rd position, Micheal Schumacher is yet to make his comeback something to remember for as he qualified once again in the 7th position for the race but with the prediction that this race could be the first wet race of the season the champion of the wet races Schumi will be ready to grab every opportunity.

2010 FORMULA 1 QANTAS AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX

It was probably 2 am in the morning I along with my brother were glued to the TV, It was the conclusion of the biggest sports extravaganza in the world where France (my favorite team in that world cup) was playing Italy and it was that very moment when we saw the most heartbreaking incidence in the football history if not the sports history when French player Zinedine zidane (My all time favorite football player) head butt the Italian Player Materazzi as a result Zidane had to leave the ground and later Italy won the match in the penalty shootout 5-3 after ending the normal playing time and extra time with 1-1 score line.

Now the countdown has begun to face the same tension and to watch the biggest sporting event in the world where 32 teams will be playing for the glory, pride and most importantly FIFA World cup 2010 which is scheduled to be held in South Africa, the country which will make history by hosting the event for the first time in African Continent.

This is the schedule of the first round of the world cup. I will be posting all the world cup related stuff in the days to come, so prepare yourself for the biggest sporing event in the world. FIFA world cup 2010

First match of the day was between probably Asian last hope Korea vs. New Zealand but the way game went it was bit like hopes shattered as Korea was 2-0 down in the first half in the second half Korea tried their heart out to level but they could only manage to score 1 goal in reply match ending with a score line of 2-1 in favor of New Zealand.

Second match was between minnows Canada vs. mighty Nederland’s and the result was on the expected lines though first half of the match went goalless and it was the second half of the match which saw as many as 6 goals scored by Nederland’s score line after the match 6-0 in favor of Nederland’s.

Last match of the day was a thriller between the reigning champion Germany vs. Argentine both teams were equal in every department but it was Germany’s experience in the end which resulted in the 4-3 victory for them .

The day was the perfect example of mighty conquering the weak cause in every match of the day the team which was the favorite of winning went on to not only win the match but also winning by a margin .

For hosts it was the day when hopes of making to the semis after more then 20 years as they went down to mighty Spain 5-2 in the last match of the day Spain scoring in the last minute of the first half were 2-0 up in the first half itself later in the second half it was the goal feast both teams scoring 4 goals in the span of 5 minutes of the start of the second half scoreline 4-2 again in favour of Spain then Spain scored in the last 5 minutes of the match again ending the match with 5-2 scoreline .

In the first match of the day If somebody wanted to know what happens when a title contender plays against the minnows then in my opinion that person needed to watch this Australia vs South africa match which was a clear example of this above stated thing .It took Australia 16 minutes to score their first goal after that the maximum time difference between two goals was of 8 minutes Australia scored as many as 12 goals in the match equalling the Pakistan’s record of maximum goals to be netted in the goal post in a single match.Luke Doerner scored 5 goals in the match .

For Pakistan it was the same story as for India going down by 5-2 goal margin to the unbeaten england team and with this it is almost clear that India and Pakistan are both out of the World cup .

First match of the day was between the champion vs minnows affair , Germany was playing against canada and the difference between the teams was quite evident from the very beginning as Germany scored in the 3rd minute of the game and after that it was like a goal feast for the Germany and Germany was 4-0 up in the half time and they scored two more goals in the second half resulting in the 6-0 final scoreline . The second highest win for the Germany in the world cup , highest being Germany beating India 7-0 in the 1978 world cup.

Second match of the day was between Argentine vs asian champion Korea and the game was low scoring thriller compared to today’s hockey’s high scoring trends Argentine scored the first goal Korean later drawing level scoreline 1-1 in the half time in the second half Korea scored one more goal and match ended with theses goals only scoreline of the match 2-1 in favor of Korea.

Third match of the day was between New Zealand and Nederlands , Nederlannd was the clear favorite but it was New Zealand which stunned them by scoring in the very first minute but Nederlands level the scores in the 2nd minute itself and scored again in the 7th and the 27th minute scoreline 1-3 in the first half .In the second half both teams tried their heart out to score specially New Zealand made their best effort but second half went goalless and scoreline after full time was 1-3 .

It was a day of disarray and disappointment for the hosts as biggest contender of the world cup Australia thrashed India 5-2 . The game began with usual Australian attacking hockey from beginning and within few minutes of the start of match Australia was 2-0 up and 5 minutes left for the half time Australia scored one more time scoreline 3-0 but Vikram pillay gane some hope to India crowd by scoring last minute goal in the first half .

But in the second half story was same again Australia scored twice again in very beginning of the second half and scoreline now 5-1 though India scored

one goal back but it was the Australian day and they  won the match by 5-2 thumping margin.

The day began with a goal feast between south africa and confident england South africa scored the first goal at the 9th minute soon england replied and both teams scored again in the first half ending the first half with 2-2 scoreline in the second half england showed why they are a big contender of the world cup scoring four times in the second half scoreline 6-2 but south africa didn’t give up just like that they also scored twice in the second half ending the game with 6-4 margin in favor of england.

As first match of the day was a high scoring affair second match was a low scoring thriller match .Both teams started coutiously but slowly Pakistani team went on the offensivebut they had to wait till the 29th minute for the first goal of the match andPakistan leading 1-0 in the first half . In second half spain was playing very attakinghockey and in response they get as much as three penalty corners but able to convert onlyone into goal that too in the 65th minute scores level 1-1 but two minutes laterPakistan scored its second goal in the 67th minute ending the match with a 2-1 scoreline in favour of pakistan . Pakistan scoring its first point of the world cup.

The day began with not so flamboyant teams in the hockey world Canada vs New Zealand and New Zealand which is considered to be the most improved team in recent years was the clear favorite but it was Canada which drew the first blood and was leading 2-1 in the half time but in the second half New Zealand came back from the shell and scored the two goals . New Zealand won by 3-2 margin but it was not the kind of convincing win which they were looking for against Canada but none the less it was win . Second match of the day was the champion vs champion affair where at one side Asian champions Korea was at his best and reigning world champion Germany was not looking as convincing as they were use to be in their earlier two world cup outings which they won consecutively . Korea drew the first blood and they were sitting pretty at 2-0 lead at the first half , in the second half Korea played defensive hockey which led to their downfall and Germany fought back in the match scoring two goals and match ended in a fitting draw. Third match of the day was the Nederlands Taeke Taekema show who score the first hatric of the world cup , scoring all the goals through Penalty corners leading Nederlands to a thumping 3-0 victory over mighty Argentine .
